I was just updating my facebook profile and noticed the link to this blog, which I utterly and unintentionally abandoned at some point. But as I began reading my old posts, I realized how precious it is to have all that information documented! There are moments and pictures that are priceless, not to mention my hokey narration. I find myself kinda sad that so many important moments have gone un-documented since my last post.
And I feel disconnected from the friends that I used to follow. Even though facebook posts keep me up to date on stuff that happens, I miss the more in-depth thoughts, emotions, explanations, etc.
I've heard that it's possible to get your blog printed in book-like form, and NEVER thought I'd be interested in that...nothing I write about is that important. But now I can totally see the value. Life didn't seem as interesting in the present; it was just day-to-day life. Fun stuff happened, bad stuff happened, normal stuff happened, but that's just life. As I look back now I realize that those moments are my life's story. And although I don't know if I'll ever have kids, or if the kids would even want to know my story, I know I would love to read thoughts and important moments from my mom's life before she had kids and as she journeyed through life. And if any future/potential kids of mine DID have interest in my story, it would be cool to have it for them. And Dave could read it back to me if I got Alzheimer's, like in the Notebook :)
So I think what I'm saying is I want to blog. I don't want to feel obligated to spend time posting updates and pictures and missing out on real life, but I want to be able to have something to look back over in the future, when today is the past.
Maybe I'll start by filling in the holes between my last post and now...we'll see :)
